Privacy policy
Async Digital Ltd Cardiff, UK
Cardiau Cymraeg collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no servers of ours for the app to talk to. This policy explains what the app keeps on your iPhone, how purchases work, and your rights under UK data protection law.

Who we are
Async Digital Ltd is the developer of Cardiau Cymraeg. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller for any personal data we receive, which is limited to the opt-in reports from Apple described here. The app itself sends nothing to us. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s privacy settings, Apple may give us crash reports and aggregated usage statistics that do not identify you.
If you have any questions about privacy in Cardiau Cymraeg, email us at privacy@async-digital.com.
What the app keeps on your iPhone
The app remembers how well you know each word, so it can decide when to show you that card again. It also remembers whether you chose English or Welsh for the app’s interface. Both are stored only on your iPhone, in the app’s own storage. They are not linked to your name or to any account, and they are never sent to us or to anyone else.
The words, meanings and recordings are built into the app, so it works without an internet connection. When you play a word’s pronunciation, the app plays a recording it already holds. It never uses your microphone.
The app also writes short diagnostic messages to your iPhone’s own system log, such as a note that a recording could not be played. These stay on the device. The app has no analytics and transmits no logs or usage data.
If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, iOS may include your progress in that backup, as it does for most apps. The backup is yours, held by Apple or on your computer, and we cannot see it. If you delete the app, your progress is removed from your iPhone with it.
Purchases
Any purchase you make in the app is made through the App Store and processed by Apple. Apple handles your payment and the record of your purchase as its own responsibility, under Apple’s privacy policy. We never see your payment details or your Apple Account.
Links to other websites
The app’s About screen credits the sources of its word list and links to them and to their licences. If you tap one of those links, the page opens in your web browser, outside the app, and that website’s own privacy policy applies.
Sharing and third parties
The app sends us no data, so we have none to share. Cardiau Cymraeg has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs or services that collect or receive your information. The only other party involved is Apple, for any purchase described above.
Apple’s standard licence terms, which form part of this app’s licence, mention consent to collecting technical data. Cardiau Cymraeg collects none, and we do not rely on anything in those terms as your consent.
Keeping and removing your data
Your progress stays on your iPhone until you delete the app. Because we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side. Apple keeps its record of any purchase under its own policy.
Your rights
UK data protection law gives you rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct, and erase it. As Cardiau Cymraeg collects nothing and we keep no copy of anything, there is no data of yours for us to hand over or erase. Deleting the app removes your progress. For any purchase record, you can exercise your rights with Apple.
If you have a question about how the app handles data, contact us at privacy@async-digital.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk.
Children
Cardiau Cymraeg does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. Progress stays on the iPhone it was made on.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. The current version always lives at this address.
